What Makes Georgian Craft Beer Special
Georgia has a wine tradition stretching back 8,000 years, but craft beer is a relatively new chapter in the country's beverage story. And it's a chapter we're proud to be writing.
What makes Georgian craft beer unique starts with the water. Our brewery in Agara village draws from mountain springs, naturally filtered through volcanic rock. The water is remarkably soft with just the right mineral balance — ideal for brewing everything from delicate lagers to bold IPAs.
Then there's the culture. Georgians have always celebrated the art of gathering — the supra (feast) is central to Georgian life. Beer fits naturally into this tradition, offering a more casual, everyday complement to the formality of wine. Our taproom on Vazha-Pshavela Avenue has become a gathering place where friends meet, stories are shared, and great beer flows.
The Georgian craft beer scene is still young and growing. When we started AGARA, there were only a handful of craft breweries in the country. Now the movement is gaining momentum, with new breweries and beer bars opening regularly. We're seeing a generation of Georgians who are curious about flavor, quality, and craft — and we're here for it.
Being in Georgia also means we can experiment in ways larger markets might not. Our Tomato Gose uses locally grown tomatoes. Our tarragon-infused Cold IPA draws from Georgian culinary traditions. We're not just brewing beer — we're creating something uniquely Georgian.
As the scene grows, we remain committed to our founding principles: world-class ingredients, uncompromising quality, and a deep respect for the craft. From Agara to your glass — that's our promise.
